QPNWA is undertaking consultation around the issue of conflict early-warning and response. At the most basic level, we believe we could develop an SMS text broadcast and receive network, and link this to a mediation service. At the most basic level, we believe we could develop an SMS text broadcast and receive network, and link this to a mediation service. We are organising an Africa Quaker Peace Network gathering/consultation in November 2011. This will be an excellent chance for disseminating and learning, especially to/from East Africa participants. We need to raise funds for hand pumps and a clinic in Rokel, to address the urgent needs identified by the local community. We will do this in collaboration with the local community, and they will raise funds also, so that there is a sense of community ownership, and so that the services provided accurately meet their needs. We are also active in the Peace and Collaborative Development Ning (an online social network) which has well over 100 members each in Sierra Leone, Ghana and Liberia. This provides another way to share our work. But most of all we want to spread joy within Sierra Leone, Liberia and Ghana by having good projects that people want to talk about and imitate.
